Finding emails is one of the most important things we can do as sourcers. If you can’t contact them, what good is their resume? Seventy-five percent of people prefer email as the initial outreach, so the need to find an email is critical.
The criteria I used when deciding the top ten email finding tools are the percentage of email found, accuracy, and sites where the tool works. Of, course how good they are will vary depending on; location, industry, position, etc. With that, let’s look at the top ten in no order.
Swordfish – Swordfish is one of the best tools on the for finding not just emails but phone numbers. It works on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Github, StackOverflow, Xing, Meet-up, Dribble, Google Search, Gmail, and more. Bulk capabilities are coming.
Precontact Tool -this tool finds emails and phone numbers on LinkedIn. Credits roll over which is good.
ZAPinfo – While ZAPinfo is a scraping tool, it does have email finding capabilities and works pretty much everywhere. You can also verify emails you find. Bulk capabilities available.
Nymeria – is another contact finding tool, that works well. They have an API that can be used if you know how to program some or use APIs. It can work on multiple sites, LinkedIn, Github, and others.
The Reach – this is the new kid on the block, and while they are still improving, they are outstanding. The key here is that it works on numerous sites such as; LinkedIn, Xing, AngelList, Twitter, Quora, Github, StackOverflow, and Dev. As well, with more to come. You can verify the email you find on the web as well. They also have bulk capabilities.
humanpredictions – this tool is more of a sourcing tool that has the skills also to find email addresses and social information. It works on numerous sites to include; LinkedIn, Facebook, Github, and others. This tool can also cross-reference an email to find more info.
AmazingHiring – this tool is also a sourcing tool. However, it does a great job of finding emails, social sites, and more. It works on LinkedIn, Facebook, Github, and others. It also can cross-reference an email to find more info.
SeekOut – this is a sourcing tool that has a chrome extension that can also find emails. It works on LinkedIn, Google search results, Twitter, Facebook, and others.
Contact Finder – this is also a newer tool. It can find emails on the following sites; LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook. You get a whopping 2,000 lookups per month for free.
Jobjet -this tool works on numerous sites to include; LinkedIn (all versions), Github, Google, and Angellist. It also shows social websites and various other pieces of information. You can create lists with it, and it integrates with several ATS/CRMs.
Now, these are the top ten with the most significant reason being they all work on multiple sites.
However, a lot of you will only care about LinkedIn. With that being the case, here are a couple of honorable mentions that work only on LinkedIn.
Adorito -this tool finds contact info on LinkedIn, is reasonably priced and appears pretty accurate. You get one free a day or seven a week.
Kendo -this tool is interesting in that it and Adorito seem to work the same, and provide the same information as well as working on the same profiles and not working on the corresponding profiles. This leads me to believe they are getting their data from the same source. It supports all versions of LinkedIn. Has a bulk upload and an API. You get five free a week.
So, there you have it the top ten in no order and a few extras just for LinkedIn. Now, of course, there are others. However, these are the ones I find the most useful, the most accurate, and most importantly, the ones I use the most.
