I read a quote that sparked an idea for this article and my thoughts on how we tend to struggle to find purpose as we grow within our careers.

“Your purpose in life is to find your purpose and give your whole heart and soul to it” ~ Buddha

We all have a purpose, our lives have significant meaning, even if it doesn’t feel like it at times. I realized a long time ago that we all have a purpose. You, at this very moment, are supposed to be here, so don’t give up, don’t doubt it.

I want to say, that It’s okay not to know what you’re doing with your life, it’s okay to feel lost and at times alone because in the loneliness you’re not alone. Know that while you’re staring at the clock at 3 AM, which I do most of the time because of an overactive imagination. You’re not the only one who is awake wondering and questioning their purpose, your life, your legacy.

In our industry, we all try to come across as though we have our sh*t together, but we have at times have felt inadequate and have questioned our purpose. We all have these moments of weakness, moments where we wish it would change and be silent for a while, but the truth is, ”this too shall pass.”

I’ve been struggling with my purpose and can say that the feeling won’t stay there forever. Even if it feels like you’ve got a black cloud hanging over your head, know it won’t be there forever. I have worked on surrounding myself with amazing, honest, caring and reliable individuals who have helped me to find my purpose, but this article isn’t about me, it’s about YOU.

The truth is; it’s good to question things. It’s good to examine your life and your purpose because it means you want more out of life, am I right? It’s a step in the right direction.

You matter you are enough; you have a purpose. You might not know your meaning yet but don’t give up before you figure it out. You never know what greatness life has in store for you; you never know what accomplishments are still to waiting for you.

Just because things don’t go well for you at these times in your life, doesn’t mean it will always be that way. Things won’t always be this way. It will get better. Things will change, and clarity will come, though maybe not entirely. Perhaps the lousy experience we all have with bad managers, wrong metrics, corrupt colleagues, etc. will always be there, but the future is what YOU make of it. A lesson I have come to realize.

But don’t ignore your strength, your blueprint, your PURPOSE. Don’t ever underestimate yourself because YOU still have so much to give and so many beautiful words and thoughts. Our industry needs your experience. Don’t let our industry, make you feel like you don’t deserve a shot to shine because YOU do. After all, if I can experience this powerful mindset, you can too.

I am here to encourage and channel my inner Oprah, “You Have Life Then, You Have Purpose.” Be present, and you need to be here. There may not be answers to all your questions about our purpose in life, but that is the beauty of self-discovery through our experiences, and that it’s okay if you don’t know what that is yet. You are so much more than the decisions you make now and every day of your life. Take this moment and ask for a hand because life isn’t meant to be lived alone and there are plenty of people who are willing to lend a hand.

You’ve got this. There will be better and brighter days. YOU matter, and you are enough, even if you’re questioning your purpose right now.
