How to Make the Most of Your SourceCon Experience

Oct 20, 2014

SourceCon just wrapped up early this month in Denver and it was awesome! Throughout the conference speakers shared numerous tips, tricks, and tools to make us all better sourcers. I don’t know about you, but by the end of it, my head was absolutely spinning. Now that it’s over, I think many of us struggle with the same questions: What do I do now? How do I put all of this into practice?

Here are a few suggestions:

1. Take stock of what you learned at #SourceCon

While it’s still fresh in your mind, take this time to compile and review your notes. Furthermore, see if you can summarize your learnings to share with your colleagues. Still trying to wrap your arms around all of the content? I created an infographic to capture many of the tools:

 2. Find what works for you:

Almost no one is using all of the tools that were mentioned. Each tool has tradeoffs: Most of these are free, but some are not. A few of these tools may not apply to your current process. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and figure out which tools are right for your organization.

3. Got Questions?

When you jump in and start experimenting with news tools and techniques you are bound to have questions.  Lucky for us, there is a resource where your questions can find answers. Make sure to check out sourcecon.qa.

4. Connect with other sourcers

SourceCon brought together sourcers from all over the world, representing all walks of sourcing life: agency, corporate, RPO, etc. Take this opportunity to connect with those people you met on LinkedIn and /or follow them on Twitter.

5. Start Making Plans to Attend Next Time

This was the largest SourceCon ever with more than 500+ attendees. Don’t miss out on all of the excitement and start making plans to attend next year!
