Unfortunately, although Twitter is now the second most popular social network to search for candidates after LinkedIn, many recruiters and sourcers still shy away from using it. Personally, I’m at a loss as to why. Not only is Twitter a fantastic medium on which to identify and engage with potential talent, but it’s also excellent for curating talent pools (via Lists), searching for and engaging with industry relevant hashtags, and grabbing the attention of the mobile generation. Oh, and there are several different tools that can be used in conjunction with Twitter, such as Hootsuite, Tweetdeck, Tweriod, Buffer etc. to make the experience even better!
But putting all that wonderful-ness aside, Twitter is still just a fantastic place to search for talented individuals. So, for those of you who are still unsure as to how to utilise Twitter for your sourcing and recruiting efforts, I present to you an incredibly useful infographic (created by Andy Headworth) on how to find talent using Twitter search. It includes all of the relevant search terms you can use within Twitter search and a clear format for how you should go about searching for candidates on Twitter:
