If you are reading this, you most likely have heard of the popular websites, Github and Stack Overflow. Many of you have probably even used them to source and recruit candidates. But I have some exciting news to share; there are more!
There are so many great websites to source tech talent. I’m only going to highlight a few sites, but I will list several at the end of this article.
Google Developers, formally Google Code, is a great place to search. You can explore Google APIs and SDKs (software development kit), including documentation, sample code, and support resources. Google Developers actual hosts and houses projects completed by developers. You can search and find projects that match your search terms and then see the project, see some code and see the team members as well as connect with them via Google+.
If you are observant and logical, you can even come up with their email addresses. An example is you search for “Java, Mobile, Ajax,” you will come up with 71 projects. The first project is “Struts2 jQuery Plugin,” you will see some code, and on the left, you will see members, this is the people on the team that created this project. If you go in there, you will see what each did and will see a partial email address. If you click on the partial email address, you will go to their web page, where, when you click on it again, and are signed into your Gmail, you will get to a point where you can add them to your Google+ circle. Then you can find their Gmail email address, and there you have it. Developers who have met your criteria, some sample code, and a way to contact them.
Stack Exchange is a listing of websites like Stack Overflow and other sites significant resources. The interesting thing about this site is that it links you to the Q&A part of these developer sites. However, if a person asks a great developer a question and gets an answer, the guy that answered it, is probably someone you want to talk to. If you find a person who responded to a question you like just follow their links and you will get to a way to contact them. It is that simple. Oh and this site is not limited to just developer sites so play around a little.
Developer.com is, well you guess it, a website for developers. Like all the other sites previously mentioned, you can look up information on technology, and you will find answers to questions, code, projects and more, but best of all you will find a way to contact developers.
