Sourcers are keen on the advantages of sourcing tools, but many are still learning the power behind combining sourcing tools to achieve optimal success.
Like in the card game Yu-Gi-Oh, you can combine tools or cards to create magic. Yu Gi Oh is a card game that is based on a well-known children’s show called Yu Gi Oh. It is based on Egyptian mythology. In the game Yu-Gi-Oh, there are different kinds of cards; there are Spells, Traps and Monster cards. In some cases, you can combine these cards to do something amazing. One such example is how you can combine the Magic card “Black Luster Ritual” with any two monsters cards who add up to eight or more stars, and bring out one of the most feared and powerful monsters in Yugioh “Black Luster Solider” While it can be hard to do at times, it is possible to win with the strategy, because you call on one of the most powerful monsters in Yugioh who also has several added effects making it even more powerful. Sourcing can be the same way as well if certain tools are working together to create a winning sourcing strategy that creates shown magic.
For example, let’s say you do a search you found an excellent candidate, but no contact information. You know their name and where they work. You can now use a tool called A/B Find that Email, and enter their first and last name as well as company domain, and the tool will give you all the possible work email combinations. You then can paste them into EditPad an online editing tool and then use Email Qualifier to tell you which one is right.
So let’s look at these tools; A/B Find that Email is a tool that allows you to enter in names and company domains and it gives you all the possible email permutations. It helps to crack the work email code. However, there is more. A large number of people have personal emails that have some variation of their name in them, for example, first initial, last name. Well according to stats there are 26 email domains that 95% of all people in the US have an email with for example; Hotmail.com, Gmail.com, etc. Now if you put those in as the domain you will come up with possible permutations for what their email could be if they use that domain and some combination of their name.
EditPad is a tool that is a simple online editor. What this tool allows us to do is paste in all the email combinations we got using the A/B and then use our next tool to find the right one.
The last tool is Email Qualifier. Email Qualifier is the replacement for another tool called Vibe that went away when it was shown. This tool works online and will pull emails from online sources, and they match them to social profiles there by helping us find the right email. This would include our online editor.
So let’s see we started with nothing more than a name and company where they work. Then we utilized three tools to turn that simple info into the way to contact that candidate. Now let’s take that one further and imagine it was a list of name and companies like we talked about in post five. Let’s also take this one step further and say we also used some of the tools mentioned in previous posts in this series such as, Blockspring and Hiretual and used these work emails to get enriched data such as location, title, social sites, personal emails, etc. It does not get any better than that, a four tool combo that takes your candidate sourcing to a whole new level and save you time.
As you can see while I have showed how combining specific tools in particular ways can accomplish something great. You can also cross combine these tools, take some tools I spoke about in post one and merge it with some from post six and do even more. The possibilities are endless as is the magic that comes from them.
