Many tools come and go, but some have become very reliable in our efforts to better source talent. Sourcers are keen on the advantages of sourcing tools, but many are still learning the power behind combining sourcing tools to achieve optimal success. This is the second article in a series of posts on how you can combine tools to create sourcing magic. The first installment can be found here.

Like in the card game Yu-Gi-Oh, you can combine tools or cards to create magic. Yu Gi Oh is a card game that is based on a well-known children’s show called Yu Gi Oh. In the show, the good guys battle using cards that when combined with particular hologram technology brings the cards to life. It is based on Egyptian mythology. In the game, Yu-Gi-Oh, there are different kinds of cards; there are Spells, Traps and Monster cards. In some cases, you can combine these cards to do something extraordinary.

One such example is creating the Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon one of the most powerful monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh. To do it you need four cards, but when you get them and use them, you get to utilize a monster that is close to unstoppable. While it can be hard to do at times, it is possible to win with the strategy. Sourcing can be similar if certain tools are working together to create a winning sourcing strategy that creates sourcing magic.

For example, if you were to use Hiretual or BOOL to create a Boolean string to find say Java developers, and you added that you used the “filetype” command and asked for say PDFs. Well, you will get a result, but then you have to decide what to do with them. In most cases, if you built an incredible search string you would want to download the results. However, doing that can take a lot of time, as you would need to do it, one by one. Well by combining the Hiretual or BOOL search string results with another tool called “Multiple File Downloader” OR Multi-File Downloader,” you can download all the results at once to your download folder, quick and easy.

So let’s look at these tools; BOOL is a simple Chrome extension that allows you to create Boolean strings and search in specific areas, rather that is Linkedin, Google, Bing or any other place. It allows you to save your searches for reuse and to modify them as well.

Now as I stated you could also use Hiretual, a complete sourcing solution that does a lot. One of its core capabilities is the ability to create Boolean strings that can search in such places as; LinkedIn, Twitter, Github, Stackoverflow, Google, Bing, Facebook, Indeed, and much more. As in the example above we use this very feature to complete your sourcing magic.

Lastly is the Chrome extension tool called Multiple File Downloader. This tool allows you to download all the documents in search results. You can choose which types of documents, choose which specific documents, as well as choose where they download. You can even add documents types that are not listed.

Now as I mentioned you could also use “Multi-File Downloader” to do the mass downloading of the documents. Like the other tool, you can select what type of documents, you pick which specific documents, you can blacklist document types, you can include image links and website links.

So, think about this for a minute, we combined two tools; BOOL or Hiretual and Multiple File Downloader or Multi-File Downloader to download search results of documents which are targeted to what you want and can be downloaded all at once, and then are ready to be uploaded to your ATS or CRM. It does not get any better than that, a two tool combo that takes your sourcing to a whole new level.
